Professional New Home Electrical Installation in Adelaide
A new home electrical installation covers everything your house needs to function from the day you move in. That includes the incoming supply from the street, your meter box, switchboard with safety switches and circuit breakers, all internal and external lighting circuits, power point circuits for every room, dedicated circuits for ovens, cooktops and hot water systems, and provisions for air conditioning, EV chargers or any other equipment you plan to install. We work with your builder from the rough-in stage right through to final fit-off and testing.
At AusEco Electrical, we plan new home wiring carefully to avoid the common problem of not having enough power points or circuits for modern living. We discuss your lifestyle and technology needs before we start, so the wiring layout accounts for home offices, entertainment setups, kitchen appliance loads and outdoor living areas. Our vans carry all the cable, conduit, switchgear and fittings needed for the job, and we coordinate with your builder to keep the project on schedule.
If you are building in the Adelaide Hills or Mount Barker area, we also factor in considerations like surge protection (storms and lightning strikes are more common in elevated areas), weatherproof fittings for exposed outdoor areas, and adequate exterior lighting for longer driveways and larger blocks. Planning these into the build is far cheaper and cleaner than retrofitting them later.

FAQs
New Home Electrical Installation Questions
Common questions about new home electrical installation in Adelaide.
When should the electrician start on a new home build?
Electrical work in a new build happens in two main stages. The rough-in stage happens after the frame is up but before the walls are lined. This is when we run all the cables through the wall frames and ceiling spaces. The fit-off stage happens after plastering, painting and flooring, when we install the switches, power points, light fittings and switchboard. We coordinate with your builder on timing for both stages.
How many power points should I include in a new home?
More than you think. The building code sets a minimum, but most Adelaide homeowners find those minimums are not enough for modern living. We recommend at least four double power points in living areas, two in bedrooms, six or more in kitchens, and dedicated outlets for laundries, garages and outdoor areas. It is far cheaper to install extra outlets during the build than to add them later.
Do you handle the switchboard for new builds?
Yes. We install a brand new switchboard for every new home, sized to handle your total electrical load with room for future additions. Every board includes safety switches (RCDs) on all circuits, individual circuit breakers, and we can add surge protection as well. The board is labelled clearly so you know which breaker controls which circuit.
Can you wire a new home for future additions like EV chargers?
Absolutely. We can run conduit and cable provisions during the build so that adding an EV charger, extra air conditioning units or a workshop sub-board later is straightforward and does not require opening up finished walls. Future-proofing during construction adds very little to the overall cost.
What areas do you service for new home builds?
We handle new home electrical installations across Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Mount Barker and the Fleurieu Peninsula. Whether it is a suburban block in Seaford, a larger allotment in the Hills, or a new estate in Mount Barker, we can get the job done.
Do you provide a certificate of compliance for new home wiring?
Yes. Every new home electrical installation is inspected and tested, and we issue a Certificate of Compliance (CoC) confirming the work meets current Australian wiring standards. Your builder will need this for the final building inspection. We handle all the paperwork as part of the job.
