How long does it take to install a home EV charger?
Most installations take between 3 and 5 hours, depending on the distance between your switchboard and the charger location. If your switchboard needs an upgrade to support the additional load, that adds a couple of hours. We aim to complete everything in a single visit so your charger is ready to use the same day.
Do I need to upgrade my switchboard for an EV charger?
It depends on your current switchboard capacity. Many older Adelaide homes are running close to their electrical limit, so adding a 32-amp EV charger circuit may require an upgrade. We check your switchboard during the quoting visit and let you know upfront if any work is needed before the charger can go in.
What EV charger brands do you install?
We install all major brands including Fronius, Wallbox, Tesla, Ocular and ABB. We are not locked into any single manufacturer, so we can recommend the charger that best suits your vehicle, your budget and your home's electrical setup. All units we install are certified for use in Australia.
Can I charge my EV from a regular power point?
You can, but it is very slow. A standard 10-amp household power point delivers roughly 8 to 12 kilometres of range per hour of charging. A dedicated Level 2 charger on a 32-amp circuit delivers around 40 to 50 kilometres per hour, meaning a full overnight charge is easily achievable. For daily driving, a dedicated charger is well worth the investment.
Where is the best place to install an EV charger at home?
The most common location is the garage wall closest to your vehicle's charge port. If you do not have a garage, we can mount chargers on carport posts, external walls or free-standing poles near your parking area. We help you choose a spot that keeps the cable run short, avoids trip hazards, and is protected from the weather.
